The
People’s
Photographer
Wherever I go, I’m always looking for the same thing: the people. I notice them, the way they move through a room, connect with one another and become completely absorbed in a moment, and I like to capture them in their truest form. In a world where so much is created, curated and manufactured, documenting real life feels more important to me than ever. Perhaps one day, these photographs will be the proof of who we really were.
“One day, the moments we barely noticed may be the ones that tell us who we really were.”
My brother and I were playing hide and seek in our home in South Africa. I hid inside my dad’s wardrobe, and that’s where I found it. Sitting amongst his things was an old camera. Something about it captured me. Years later, after living on a boat my dad built, sailing around the world, homeschooling and immigrating to New Zealand, that same camera found its way back into my hands. As a teenager, I learned photography the old-school way, spending time in the high school darkroom and capturing my friends, the places we went and the small moments that made up my teenage world. From there, I became fascinated by photography, history and the photographers who had dedicated their lives to documenting the world around them
My journey didn’t lead me to become a war photographer or work for National Geographic; instead, it led me to travel, build a career as a designer and eventually start my own business. Along the way, I found myself in the music industry, photographing artists and live experiences, before moving into the studio to work on campaigns, brands and the people behind them. But somehow, I always found my way back to the part of photography that first captured my heart: storytelling.
I like to think of myself as the people’s photographer…interested in finding the truth in our world, whether that’s through a photograph, a conversation or an interview. Capturing something real feels like a gift. And I’m incredibly grateful that, all those years ago, I decided to hide in my dad’s wardrobe.

Stories.
Doco-style photograhy from events, runway and stage performances, to keynote, conferences and life moments. Events are a once in a lifetime moment, never to be experienced the same twice and always with a great story behind the person or people involved. Capturing these experiences, documenting them for the future helps us cherish the moments, memories and history.
